The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Seton Hall University invites applications for a position at the Faculty Associate level (non-tenurable but renewable). The position starts September 2005. A Faculty Associate position carries a 15 credit teaching load per semester, which typically amounts to 5 courses or equivalent activities such as supervising activities of the developmental mathematics and tutoring program. At least some of the teaching load will include courses at the remedial level. The position initially is for the period of 1 year and is renewable after that period.

Candidates should provide evidence of strong teaching skills in mathematics, including at the remedial level, and need to possess strong communications skills. The position offers the opportunity to influence further program development. A Master's Degree or equivalent in Mathematics or Mathematical Education or an equivalent area is required. Experience supervising undergraduate students or working in a remedial mathematics program is a definite plus.

Candidates should include with their cover letter a curriculum vitae as well as a statement of teaching philosophy, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to the committee. At least two of the letters should address the applicant's teaching effectiveness.
