The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is offering an Introductory Robotics course:
CSAS 4082 AA Interested in learning about Robotics? Want to develop programming and engineering skills in hands-on exercises? Want to take a fun course learning about an exciting subject? Have one credit to spare? |

The course will group participants into teams, with each team receiving a robotics kit and associated software. The course will be centered around "milestones" that each team needs to complete. Grades are based on completing the milestone exercises and performance in a final robot competition.
We will initially use the Lego NXT robotics kit (http://mindstorms.lego.com/), then, if time and student background allows, switch to a more advanced robotic assembly (e.g. http://www.corobot.net/). Programming will be in Microsoft Robotics Studio, using Java or C or a simple graphical design process.
The Fine Print: You should have completed Calculus (Math 1303, or 1401, or 1501 or higher) and have some programming experience. Preference will be given to students who have taken formal programming classes (e.g. CSAS 1111 or 1113), but other interested students are encouraged to to register, too.
