Truth Tables

This applet lets you investigate propositional logic, i.e. the the study of the truth or falsity of statements.

Suppose you have a logical statement "A and B" that you want to negate, i.e. you want to know which is the equivalent negative of the statement "A and B". Is it

(not A) and (not B), or

(not A) or (not B)

This applet can help to answer this question. In "logical notation" you want to know which two statements are true:

not (A and B) is equivalent to (not A) and (not B)

not (A and B) is equivalent to (not A) or (not B)

Start the applet by clicking on the above button and enter one of the statements:

~(A & B) <=> (~A) & (~B)

~(A & B) <=> (~A) v (~B)

Evaluate each statement by clicking on Go. The one that gives you a tautology is the correct equivalence.
