This applet illustrates two-dimensional motion in the gravity field of earth.  You can pick a starting speed and angle, or the x and y components of the initial velocity. You can also specify the initial height. The program will display one or more trajectories of a projectile flying in these conditions. The last trajectory is shown in yellow, previous ones are in read.

To start the program, click on the "Projectile Motion" button above. The goal is to find that angle that gives the furthest distance for a given initial height.

NoteIf you have any comments, we would most appreciate them - help create a "better applet"!

This applet requires the Java Runtime Environment. If you have problems viewing the applet, click here to download and install the JRE - Windows only - or get it at www.javasoft.com.
